Tamra Jones is the owner of Azure Interior Design. Driven and conscientious, imaginative and disciplined, she will help you turn your thoughts and ideas into a reality that you can not only live in, but that makes you feel more alive! Raised in a large family that fostered creativity, Tamra has continued to challenge herself to think outside the box. From her experience of living throughout the U.S. as well as overseas, she brings new ideas to your interiors. With an undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology, she continued her education at The Sheffield School of Interior Design NY, NY. Tami believes that education is a lifelong process. To remain fresh and offer her clients choices from the fascinating, always-changing world of design, she attends numerous design conferences and workshops each year and furthers her education whenever possible. She is an active member of the WCAA and IFDA. She has also earned the designation of Somfy Expert.

When I begin with a new client I…get excited to learn about who they are and what their dreams are. Do they wish to restore a farmhouse or individualize their new builders home. Do they like clean lines or frills? Every space offers challenges and I enjoy finding creative solutions.

Why do I do what I do…I am an interior designer because I know our surroundings affect who we are. Our homes can inspire us, calm us, comfort us, energize us, and make us smile. I believe each room in your home should be a reflection of who you are or who you want to be. Most people know what they like when they see it, but they may not have the time or know how to bring it together. Your home should welcome you in and become your personal oasis from the daily stresses of life. You deserve a space that is yours.

What has influenced my design career…Besides growing up in a home where there were plenty of opportunities for artistic expression, my international travels have exposed me to a vast array of cultures and design styles. Everyone has an individual story to tell. My challenge is to help you express who you are in your home. I never show up to a job assuming I know your style.

My biggest design mistake was…letting a client rush a paint color selection. Usually, I insist on trying out samples on different walls, waiting a day while observing the different affects the light has on the color throughout the day. Morning light has a blue cast and evening light is yellow. Usually I can predict what affect the light will have, but I like to be sure before the whole house is painted. We ended up changing the paint color.

I’m inspired by…lines, harmony, color, nature, dreams, and personality.

My favorite design style is…I’m very indecisive when it comes to choosing a favorite style. Lately, I’ve been drawn to clean modern lines, textures, and large organic prints. At the same time I have always admired historic homes with fine millwork. There is an appropriate place for every style when executed well. It is important to let the architecture of the space speak to you; then work with it.

I change my own interiors… I would change my own interiors every season if I had the time and my family would put up with it. I get excited when new fabrics, new wallpapers, new furniture lines, hit the market and I dream of how they can be used. There is something exciting about change. Plus, there is more and more fantastic design options available everyday; I just need unlimited rooms to display my finds.

My personal dream house would be…a brownstone in Back Bay, Boston; everything within walking distance; my little oasis with carefully selected pieces; a home where less is more and around every corner is something I love.

I’m driven by…the realization that I can make someone’s home more enjoyable for them. I love the feeling when I see a clients face after a room is completed and I know I have created a room where they feel good.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my bedroom makeover! You did a wonderful job blending the existing furniture with the new pieces to give a completely different look. I love the wall color you suggested and we used. The silk drapes are elegant and the soft sheers are so light and airy. I have gotten so many compliments. I never could have gotten this result without you! Your obvious talents and vibrant personality made this a very enjoyable experience. I think my bedroom has become my favorite room in the house.

During the last nine months, I have worked with Tami Jones to update my kitchen and family room. From the beginning, Tami has been the consummate professional--providing me with interesting and innovative ideas, sketches, and layouts. She really took the time to get to know our family in an effort to combine our personal styles with new and affordable ideas. Tami is multi-talented--she designs, sews, does photography, and even paints when needed.

In my kitchen, Tami designed a tile backsplash that turned out beautifully! She also stuck with me through all the trials and tribulations of choosing paint colors--a task that has proven very difficult for me! In my family room, we worked on a window treatment project that was very time consuming and intense, but Tami never got frustrated. She really worked with me as a true “partner” during the whole project. The family room is finally done and the transformation has been amazing! Tami also came up with a beautiful way to display my family pictures–taking it on herself to redo all the pictures in a sepia finish, purchasing all the frames, then hanging all the pictures back on the wall.

Tami always had a smile on her face and her love of design shows through in her work. I will continue to work with Azure Interior Design as my family moves along with future projects.
